Aims and Objectives
We
seek to introduce the pupils to the varied nature of
religious experience. We aim to promote an understanding
of what religion is, to recognise the place of religion
in society past and present and to be aware of the influence
that religion has on all people. It is hoped that pupils
will acquire an understanding of what it means to take
a religion seriously and to empathise with a religious
believer and anyone with strong beliefs.
We follow the Norfolk Agreed Syllabus in Years 7, 8 and
9.
There is a new Norfolk Agreed Syllabus which we are introducing in Years 7, 8 and 9. Its emphasis is on learning about religion and learning from religion. Levels of achievement are introduced into the subject for the first time.
Year
10 and Year 11.
All
pupils in Year 10 take GCSE Short Course Philosophy
and Ethics. Pupils look at social and moral issues from both a Christian and Islamic perspective, as well as reflecting on thier own views.
